“Ascendancy”

My attempt at a sonnet…

Adrift upon an azure sky,
Careening derelict of yesteryear
Assails the crest toward an ocean’s eye
Of blistering brow and wrinkled tear.

Swiftly sifting like cherub sailor’s breast
Engulfs the deep to pour forth shade;
Their shadows rule infernal list
While snapping teeth devour rage.

White vessels that berth their tempest child
Conceive a twin whose streams pierce free
Of pirate snare to burn masts wild.
Now calm’s reclaimed by winking prodigy.

New victor’s glory descends in blood:
Awaits his dawn for coming flood.
