Today is the first day of the rest of my life.
Much change is about to take place. Since life is taking a massive new direction, it seemed only fitting to completely revamp my blog.
The new banner image is the first clue to my future. I took this photo inside an airport train car in the Denver International Airport. I like the subterranean, almost claustrophobic feel of it. But you’ll notice the lights near the end of the tunnel. That’s the part of the photo that I’m most captivated by. What’s at the end?
Colorado is.
I’ve accepted a job in Colorado for Liteye Systems as Director of Engineering. My Texan citizenship has come to an end. It’s with an anxious mind and a full heart that I leave Plano, Texas. I say goodbye to family and friends and a great job at MTSI.
But that photo means more to me than just the locality. The imagery brings other thoughts to mind:
I’m on this train and I can’t stop it now. That’s not as bad a condition as it might sound. It’s actually quite a relief. God started the ball rolling, and now there’s no stopping the destination from greeting me. How long it may take to get there is another issue.
The lights on either side of the tunnel actually form the light at the end of it. Their light converges at the end of the tunnel, but they are actually all around and beside me! In that sense, the light is accompanying me for the entire duration of the trip to the destination. This leads me to ask two questions:
- How am I neglecting or taking for granted the light around me every day?
- I’m not alone in a long journey toward spiritual enlightenment. I have pieces of the light accompanying me, comforting me.
In the previous version of ElectroLund.com, I wrote about Douglas Coupland and how our jobs tend to define us. That theme resonates with me all the more these days. I’m moving to Colorado, not solely for the great career move that it represents. I’m beginning a new trek inward. I’m looking for someone I once knew, and hoping to become a better man still.

I love your front page picture of the DIA tunnel. Being a fellow CO dweller, I have a definite soft spot for the airport- great architecture and design makes it a fun place to go!
