My electronics inspection lamp died and I wasn’t sure why. So I set out to fix it. Check out the pictures below. Click on them for fuller descriptions of each step.

All fluorescent lamps require starters to charge the gas inside the bulb to illuminate. I replaced this starter just in case. Wasn\'t the problem.

Next up was the AC transformer in the base of the lamp. Turned out to the be problem, which is odd. I measured the output of the transformer and there was nothing coming out! So I tore apart another lamp and scavenged its similarly rated transformer.

As with most projects, here\'s the hardest part: re-packaging. I had to go to great lengths getting the old transformer out of the plastic package (read: Dremmel).
