I’m slowly coming back to the world of online journaling, but suffice it to say that the past 100ish days have been a whirlwind of chaos, none of it haphazard but rather orchestrated this time around.
So much so, it has somewhat mirrored the kind of cartoon villiany of a James Bond film or the latest Mission Impossible installment. You know the types: a nefarious and amorphous Entity that you can’t see or feel but has totoal control of the world’s nuclear arsenal; or a single omnipotent comic book demigod (demagogue?) that wields unstoppable power and crippling terror over us mere mortals.
But then, near the end of this impossible mission, the leader of the free world steps out of the secret bunker, surrounded by her generals all star-studded, and says: “Without you, the world would be a very different place.” The Black woman president has full command of the room, averting a nuclear holocaust, and all is right with the world.
