The balm to cruelty

They say that faith without action is dead. I think that’s correct, but not because I remembered it myself. It was one of my kids who (re-)taught me the lesson.

In a world — alas, a nation — that has lost itself to permissible cruelty, the balm is spreading peace and joy to the corners that don’t have much. The cure to endless arguing about a problem is being part of the solution, however small.

Look what my kid made this year, all alone, from idea to writing to buy supplies. I only helped with the delivery.

These are homeless Christmas gifts that are practical (jackets, deodorant, snacks, and supplies from the thrift store) and personal (a beautiful handmade Christmas card with notes of love and peace). “You are loved” sums up every possible sentiment about Christmas that I can imagine.
