The January 6th Insurrection was a shameful day. I remember feeling un-ironically patriotic as a teenager, even with Reagan in the white house! Five years ago was a horrible precedent for the US and I grieve for my children who have a cult leader for a president.
Leave it to a man who staged a coup after he lost a US election to then go on to execute a coup of a South American sovereign nation. In much the same way that many Americans are fond of reflecting on 9/11 with the advisory “never forget”, I say the same about 1/6/2021.
And with Orwell as my guide, I will believe the evidence of my eyes and my ears. I saw what happened that day. I know why it happened. If the whiny, petulant loser of the 2020 election had conceded like every single candidate before him, January 6th wouldn’t have happened. But then, honor and dignity isn’t his style. Grievance and blame are.
