Electric hair clipper repair

There’s a good chance that you’re having the same problem I had as described in my post above. Have you tried taking them apart yet an loosening the transformer anchor screw?

» Posted By Rob On May 7, 2009 @ 5:34 am

Hmm, a sales call? I’m flattered you think I need a contract manufacturer for my mods, but alas I have not a sizable market for repairing electric hair clippers.

Dennis, When your pair doesn't work, do you hear any electric "buzz"?  If so, then you know there's power but the coil is binding in that orientation. If there's no power at all in the orientation that causes it to not work, then I'd say you have a cable intermittence. Rob

Allen, good to hear that one of your pairs of clippers is fixed now. As to why this is happening, I’m not completely sure. When my clippers froze up, I assumed it was that anchor screw had just worked itself tight over the years.

If you have a pair of clippers in which you’ve loosened this screw and it’s still not oscillating, then there’s something wrong with the transformer which provides the magnetic field. It’s possible that the coils are corroded. Look for rust or damage on the coil.

$15, Jules! That’s some splurge money right there!

the wild (patio) kingdom

I did! Mr. Squirrel finally came back and found quite the treasure for him. He stole on of the pinecones and licked it furiously like it was an ice cream cone.

And the birds are trickling back finally too. 🙂

Much better than yesterday, which consisted of thick viscous saliva, fever, soar ear/throat, and 17 hour sleep. Today the fever’s gone. 🙂

Christmas loot, part 2

Well, we were playing this board game and in my extreme absent-mindedness, I confused clockwise with counterclockwise. And one of them started calling me “clockwise”.

There you have it.

Thanks for the good cheer everybody! Scoot, you little pill. Now I’m going to have to explain the CW reference.

Christmas loot, part 1

Remarkably!

Thanks a lot, Carl. Ok, the brownish mug was dirty at the time of the photo. And being somewhat lazy, I opted to photograph only the clean one.

But then I bet you people already knew that, eh?

Whole bunch of what? Both cups? Or cups and leather pants?

» Posted By Rob On December 20, 2005 @ 4:02 pm

Oh, and they’re the perfect size: little 2 ounce cups instead of the bigger 4 ounce.

The elusive new bird

Cool, Ice. Thanks for the sleuthing!

» Posted By Rob On January 16, 2006 @ 1:20 pm

Oops! Thanks, Kim. Silly me. For the longest time, I was misspelling “cord” as “chord” too. 🙂

Tuba Spectacular!

Hehe, too funny. I’ve been corrected by the women in my life on two different posts that I made last night. And I used to think of myself as a detail person. Hmm.

Christmas in Colorado!

Silly Mary, Santy Claus isn’t real! But you make a good point. How in the world am I going to use my fireplace? Hmmm, hadn’t quite thought that through.

» Posted By Rob On December 10, 2005 @ 6:17 pm

Oops, I dropped the ball on details in this post!

Jules, sorry I’ll take another closer picture of the now infamous “wooden stringers”. Completely slipped my mind.

Melissa, yes it’s a real tree.

Carl, you’re saying I need to work on my coyness?

Bright lights, big city.

United, based out of Tennessee.

» Posted By Rob On December 16, 2005 @ 12:36 am

Huh, funny. I don’t remember describing any roses in my post. 😛

Jeff, that’s crazy. I didn’t realize it could snow that badly. Illegal?! Wow. No doubt, I could have been stuck much longer.

What is Christianity?

My goodness, Hojun, how’d you almost choke to death?!

» Posted By Rob On December 8, 2005 @ 10:49 am

Jules, I think you are an exception, someone who sought God out on your own after walking the aisle. There’s nothing wrong with that.

In my experience, I remember seeing the same people walk the aisle every week for salvation, despite being taught that salvation was a single event. What, did it not “stick” the first time?

Or then there were the other people, the outsiders not raised in church, who walked down the aisle but never returned to church. I began to wonder if perhaps the method of convincing them to walk the aisle in the first place — using more fear of hell, than desire to commune with God — was flawed.

Hmm, fascinating stuff about Finney, Hojun.

Had, what’s all this worldview talk I keep hearing from you Evangel geeks?

» Posted By Rob On December 5, 2005 @ 11:03 am

Good thoughts, Carl. I have to admit being torn between the two ideas of what salvation is. On the one hand, I tend to reject the “walking down the aisle” approach, because of its heightened emotional state. It’s an evangelical method that blasts an unbeliever with religious fervor, but often abandons them by the following Sunday.

On the other hand, if salvation (and Christianity by extension) is merely “a way to live”, i.e., behavior modification… what then separates us from the Muslim, the Buddhist, or even a humanitarian atheist?

It’s got to be a bit of both I think.

the first Thanksgiving

Hmm, keen observation, Mary. Like father, like son, huh? Something about teaching an old dog new tricks… try to teach an aging golden retriever how to mousse his hair, I dare you!

Mugshot

Mmm, good point, Ang. Those lids do present some value in the paper cups for insulation. That is a downside of the mug — you have to drink it somewhat quickly!

However, the nice coffee shops store their mugs on top of the warm espresso machine, so that the mug is hot before the drink is poured. Ingenious!

there goes the neighborhood

Well Jules, I never said I was disciplined. It would have been more truthful to say, “most mornings”! 😳

» Posted By Rob On November 20, 2005 @ 10:15 pm

Panera… mmmm

Ouch, truth in advertising bit me, huh? My secret’s out. 🙂

And just when I thought I was eating healthy at Panera. Thanks a lot, David!

» Posted By Rob On February 3, 2006 @ 11:50 am

Well, I guess I’ve been a singleton too long, because I actually found their prices to be pretty reasonable.

In fact, Panera here in Colorado (remember, +5% cost of living increase from Texas) is cheaper for a full meal than ABC in Dallas. Same goes for Peaberry coffee versus Starbucks. Go fig.

Forgiveness

(Ciera, Carl whined about the letters being too hard to figure out , so I removed them. But I forgive him though!)
