Oh wow! Very cool, Angela. That’s a big step, isn’t it? I was this close to buying a place in Dallas. It literally came within a week of the decision to move to Colorado instead.

Hey, Bruce. First off, go grab Agitprop:

Some caveats —
The export file you get from Agitprop may contain some garbage characters. I used TextWrangler to do lots and lots of regex search/replace to get it looking correctly.The biggest hurdle was then exporting all my old Haloscan comments into WordPress as well (which I notice you are using too). Enter Justinsomnia’s plugin:

You’ll see some of my comments there. What I had to do was some more fancy regex to match blog post with Haloscan comment ID. If you are a paying Haloscan user, you can get a full export of your comments.

Ahh but, Nate, the curtains are a vital piece of the overall theater room experience. Alas, the outside light must be well blocked for maximum viewing pleasure.
Ok, onto details:
It’s a Dell 1100MP, 4:3, 1400 lumens projector
Right now, I’m using just the wall — which looks amazingly well, I might add. I’ve got material to build a screen soon (black-out drape lining and 1×2 wooden frame)
Zoomed all the way out, with an 11ft throw distance, the image is about 6.5ft x 4.5ft.
I went cheap on the sound with a mid-line Cambridge Soundworks system for a few reasons:1) I’m in a small apartment
2) My old Sony amplifier only has 5.1 decode

You got it, Jimmy. It’s a nice alternative to the traditional “entertainment altar”! All the equipment can be tucked away in a corner and a wall becomes your TV screen. And a big one at that!

That’s actually my fav too, ciera. There was another one I took where I happened to get my side mirror in the shot. I wish I had done that intentionally with more of the mirror in the shot. Oh well.

Ahh, very good point, Jesse. 😀 Same could go for the soldering iron, solder, shrink tube, and solder sucker (when you mess up!). That brings the price up to, oh… about $150?
In that case, Evie’s, Melissa’s, and Ciera’s methods are much cheaper. 😉

Lol! The female mind constantly… surprises me. Just when I think something is self-evident… very good question. Yes, it’s to test outlets. Especially when you just move into a new place and there’s like 3 switches that don’t seem to turn anything on.
The alarm clock/lamp approach would work, true, but they are unwieldy. 🙂

Hey, Jules I totally know how you feel. Writing faithfully sort of has its valleys and peaks. There are lots of times where I feel totally uninspired.
