Trailer Roundup (vol. 1): the hollywood apocalypse

That’s it, KingFish, I’ve added Quiet Earth to the top of my Netflix queue, since you’ve mentioned it twice. 😉 Also added the Triffids. I shall report back in due time.

Hey, have you seen Omega Man? That’s another last-man-alive flick. Very, very 70’s, but fun ideas.

Dream cast for the Dark Tower

Mike, good point about The Wanderer. You know, it was never very clear to me that the Wanderer was a distinct character from the Man in Black. I don’t know why I thought that, but the two were fused in my mind the first read through.

Hmm, interesting choice. I think he’d be good.

AC outlet timer circuit

Well this reply is only 9 years late! Not bad for me. So, yes I can help you with your barcode reader project!

Can you be more specific? The diagram is already listed above.

What material do you need? The circuit diagram is already posted above. Lots of pictures. Can you be more specific?

Sorry, avreai, you are on your own. I’ve got too many projects of my own to get done!

Hey, Richard. I needed the delay because my amp/receiver turned its output relays on too early (in my opinion) and thus my subwoofer had a really loud hum. So the delay just prevented that audible hum.

Faith in Praxis

Hmm, never heard of it, Fish. I just added it to my Netflix queue! Sounds really interesting. Plus, I have a real soft spot for last-humans-alive apocalypse scenario. 🙂

Hygiene quiz

I think YOU need fixing, Alex! Everyone knows that there are “lies, damn lies, and statistics”. In these cases, it pays not to do the math.

People, this is important! You know in your hearts what the right answer is.

Let me put it this way: when you first wake up, what’s going to fight morning breath better? Floss or mouthwash?

the Craigslist scammer letters

Glad you found my exchanges funny, Maricela.

Glad you got a kick out of this, Diana. Sure, feel free to share the joy (although I think you’re referring to my other Craigslist scam post)! Happy goading. 🙂

Ahem… that would be yes. More details to come.

Buon giorno, Principessa!

Carolina » Thanks for your corrections! Looks like I need those lessons!

Thanks for the correction, monster (sorry, I’m not hack3r literate, much less Italian!)

Blond. James Blond.

What I disliked the most about the previous was Bond’s perfection. He was just too good. It’s the same reason why I like Superman, but I don’t love him. In the end, you know he’ll win without any permanent damage. Batman however is just a man with cool toys. And the best Batmans have been the ones that get hurt, where his choices have real consequences.

This Bond had internal conflicts, doubts, and weaknesses. That’s always a good thing for creating believable struggle.

We loved the visit too. It was great as usual to hang out with your fam!

Happy Halloween!

Oh man, your pumpkin rocks, Eliot. So, what tools did you use? I’m such a newb. This is my first year getting into the more elaborate carvings. I used a dremel tool but that made such a mess.

Who am I?

Ok, gang, sorry for the confusion. But I imported this post from the old blog (it was lost in the shuffle back when I moved everything into WordPress). I put it back in just for historical reasons.  Sort of a breadcrumb approach.
Some of you who subscribe to the blog got a notification of this. Never fear, I’m not back in Dallas and I haven’t left Sarah! I’m Coloradan to the core now.

On marriage and mysteries

Hey Kim, who tipped you off to the froth? Oh, that’d be me I guess. That’s a separate post (with pics, I promise). You’re getting ahead of me!

Jimmy, it was so great that you and the fam were there! Oh, we got a compliment on your sermon toast too. 😉

Sar, you’re the best!

btw, the photos above and in my photo album are from Brother-in-Law Jim. He was our pro photographer. You’ll see more of his great work here soon.

Theme change

Thanks, Z!

» Posted By Rob On February 17, 2007 @ 7:45 am

Hmm, good thoughts Zhuang. I appreciate the ideas. And I think you’re right. You can never have too much organization! I will consider your recommendations.

The archives organization is still up in the air as I get some plugins behaving. I like the idea of drop down lists from the top, but unfortunately this WordPress theme doesn’t support that. I’ll have to ask…

» Posted By Rob On September 19, 2006 @ 10:18 am

Carl, are you anti-Panthers? 🙂 Thanks for the theme love, folks. I can always depend on you for an ego boost.

new office furniture

Danielle, we bought it at Target, but I think the line may be discontinued by now. They seem to get rid of their furniture quickly.
