the wild (patio) kingdom

He probably went back and excitedly told all his friends and family that he’s found the mother load. He may be an over dramatic squirrel that’s told fish stories before, so it may take the others some time before they give in to his tale telling and come check it out. At least this will help to redeem his reputation among his family and peers. It may even turn him into a hero!

It’s a messy project isn’t it?

Before long you’ll have a whole wildlife menagerie. People will come from near and far to see your patio!

Christmas loot, part 1

Very, very nice. Am I detecting a theme here?

I really love coffee gifts. A few years ago James gave me my cappuccino machine for Christmas. It was one of the best gifts ever.

Merry Christmas, Rob!!! Are you coming to this area for Christmas? We have a little gift for you!

nature preserve updates

Rob, since you have a real tree, after Christmas you can set it on the back porch. Roll pine cones in peanut butter and bird seed and hang from the tree with twine. That’s what I did the year I made friends with the mooching squirrel. I had half a dozen squirrels in my tree trying to loosen those pine cones so they could steal them!

You’ll have yourself a zoo before you know it.

One winter, I had a squirrel that would scratch on my back door and wait to be fed. He’d sit on his hind legs with his little front paws dangling and he’d beg for bird seed. (I was trying to feed the birds) It was really cute.

With great power comes great responsibility

Oh and great costume! I am very impressed! You must have been the envy of all the little boys, Rob!

» Posted By Jules On December 12, 2005 @ 2:44 pm

Definitely invisibility. I would be able to care for my children and keep an eye on them, but I could just go invisible when I wanted some time to myself!!! Of course, I can hear them yelling “MOOooooom! We know you’re around here somewhere!!”

Christmas in Colorado!

Hey! The stringers! I like the red ones a lot. The multi-colored ones look like something a guy would pick out! That’s not a bad thing. Don’t take me wrong! They are fun. Way to go, decorating your bachelor pad with special holiday touches! The tree is beautiful. Did you cut it down, or purchase it pre-cut?

» Posted By Jules On December 10, 2005 @ 7:23 pm

Very festive! The tree is real pretty. Is it real or artificial? I love the theater lights!!

I am disappointed. I can’t see the wooden stringers.

The stockings look great!!! I hope Santa fills them full for you! I made my family’s stockings out of old quilts. The homemade kind are the best!!!

We’ve got a bunch of snow here! The kids are out of school. They are playing outside now. It’s six degrees, so I don’t think they’ll be out long!

Bright lights, big city.

I was selected from my high school to receive a scholarship to go on a United Nations tour when I was 16. We toured from here to Canada and back for two weeks. We spent four days in New York City touring from sun up until very late every night. We went everywhere and saw everything, except for this sexy Moroccan restaurant. ๐Ÿ™ How fun! Although, James seemed a little too enthusiastic about the belly dancer! ๐Ÿ™„

Sounds like a fun, adventurous, stressful and exhausting weekend!

My friends with boys carry empty plastic pop bottles for bathroom emergencies. You don’t even have to get out of the car and there is a cap to prevent spillage. Just a suggestion.

Good job with the roses! ๐Ÿ˜‰

What is Christianity?

I went down the aisle to accept the Lord when I was 12. I am very thankful the pastor had an altar call. I chose to get involved in the youth group after that. I made sure I made it to church, because I was very hungry to know God more. I guess I don’t see what the problem with altar calls is.

I don’t go by my emotions. My faith is based on a set of beliefs, not how I feel. But, we don’t live in Ethiopia where showing emotion is taboo. We live in an emotionally driven culture. It’s ok to be emotional about our faith. If we can laugh and cry during movies, and yell and whoop during football games, why is it suddenly wrong to be emotional about the things of God. I think we have to be careful. To say emotion is bad, sounds like religion to me.

the first Thanksgiving

Your mom and dad are so cute!!

Great pics!

Mugshot

When I am out and about, I don’t mind the paper ones with lids, especially in the car. Countless cappuccinos have been spilled in the van cuz I was using a mug from home. All that milk really smells sour after a few days!

I love the mugs I use for cappuccinos. They are pastel, but have a trendy coffee shop feel. They kinda remind me of my blog.

there goes the neighborhood

That’s too bad. That’s a nice open space back there.

The lovely cow pasture to the east of us, recently turned into a dance studio. It’s annoying having so many cars coming every evening of the week. I kinda miss the cows, too.

Your mornings sound so nice. I wish I was more disciplined to get up before the kids each morning for quiet time. Instead, I stay in bed till it’s time to get up and see to it that they are fed and dressed. I do it with one eye open until I get my cup of coffee half drank.

Panera… mmmm

Yeah, we don’t make it there very often. It’s not that kid friendly and way too pricey for the whole family. Like James said, we took the family there for breakfast and when we left the kids were complaining that they were still hungry. ๐Ÿ˜

I’ll have to try this Frontega Chicken sometime.

James and I LOVE their coffee. Sometimes when we are out and about, James will run in and get us their delicious coffee to go. Really good coffee is a wonderful find!

Forgiveness

Jesus died for all men, that ALL men might be saved.

Statistically, most of the people that abuse were victims of sexual abuse themselves. They had a teenage boy on doctor Phil one day, and it broke my heart into pieces. When he was two, a female family member abused him, apparently several times. This poor boy was still in diapers and yet the impact of the abuse has broken him. He is a teenager now and he hurt and abused his little sister. His parents are loving good people. They’ve had to kick him out to protect the other children. He’s in therapy, but it’s obvious he is dangerous and the therapy doesn’t seem to be working. Only God himself can deliver this boy and make him healthy again. I pray He does so. I hope someone who knows the Lord can come along and offer him the hope and healing he needs.

Ciera, I can certainly see why it is much harder for you to forgive your uncles than it is for you to forgive brothers and cousins. Brothers and cousins are peers, but uncles are supposed to be trusted adults. They are supposed to be people you can look up to. They are supposed to be extra special, “safe” people. They should be loving authority figures, modeling good example. It makes perfect sense to me why forgiving them is so difficult for you.

You are not going crazy either, even though you may feel like you are. I went through a difficult time in my life and I began to lose control of my thoughts. It’s like my thoughts were going too fast for me to keep up with and there seemed to be a lot of them, sometimes at once. It felt maddening and I even began to pace a lot. It got so bad that I had to call in to work several times and I NEVER called in to work! I began to lose the ability to function normally. I wasn’t going crazy, I was suffering from anxiety. Unfortunately, I was unable to go on medication, which I think 3 months or so on something would have really helped me. I did see a Christian counselor and that seemed to really help me. Eventually, I got past that difficult time and I haven’t had those kind of problems since. Life is very, very, very hard and sometimes we do get broken along the way. The good news is there’s always hope and brokeness can be a really good thing that draws us closer to Him. God is in the business of healing and making us whole. Hang in there and may He touch it where it hurts. I think He does blow on our hurts and kisses them like I do my kiddos. Sometimes, when he needs to he pours medicine on them that hurts, but in the long run there is healing.

You should be angry about this sin. God’s anger burns over such sexual sins. He’s destroyed entire cities because the people were corrupt in their sexual urges and acted upon them. I am very angry when I hear such stories. I think the “be angry and sin not” applies here. Do not sin by walking in unforgiveness.

Love isn’t a feeling or emotion either. Just like forgiveness. Actively forgiving him when you think of him is an act of love toward God for being obedient to forgive. In doing so, you are showing a form of love to this individual. I don’t think you are obligated to feel any “warm fuzzies” here.

I heard on Oprah, not long ago, that statistically, a man that sexually abuses boys gets a much heavier sentence than one that abuses girls. If you abuse girls you are likely to get a lighter sentence. What the hell!!! That hurt me deeply. They should all be locked away for a very, very long time. IF there is real proof. I know people are incarcanated unfairly, at times.

Statistically, one out of four girls will be victims of sexual abuse, at some point in their lives. I have four daughters. That scares me but I do not want to live in fear. I plead the blood of Jesus over my daughters daily. I ask God to wrap his canopy of protection about them, that no harm would come to them emotionally, spiritually, physically or mentally. And most importantly of all, I pray that when they begin to make choices of their own, that they won’t step out from under the canopy of God’s protection by stepping outside His will. I hope they will live their lives according to His word because there is safety there. (As an extreme example, if one becomes a prostitute you are very likely to be hurt)

It is harder to forgive those who pose in our churches as God fearing people, striving to glorify God and they are really very perverse. For example, the BTK monster had everyone fooled and was very involved in church. Of course, he’d been strangling people for years, even entire families, to fulfill his sexual fantasy to watch people suffocate and die. The people’s lives he touched probably really need our prayers to be able to obedient and forgive such a monstrosity. May God be with them and be their help.

I am not sure if he has even repented. He didn’t seem remorseful. Hell is a long, long time.. I hope for his sake that he has repented and knows the Lord. Thank goodness they just passed a law that won’t allow him to be buried with other veterans.

Wow, I better stop! I have things to do!!

Bloggers unite!

I had a great time! Being tired doesn’t stop me! If it did I’d be in trouble. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ I am a mother of four ya know. The D girls are mine for those of you who might not know.

I think Anjelia was with James. It took them a while to make it to the top because she wanted to do it all by herself. She wants to be a big girl like her sisters.

Me and my big mouth!

I may have to add that last picture to my blog post. It’s great! Somehow I overlooked it! The flash washed the middle one out. I should’ve turned it off.

Fun times! Thanks guys! I wish James and I could go back again, by ourselves, so we could do some more hanging out with you guys!

The hair club for men

I don’t know if this is good or bad. James was trying to remember what that kids name was and our 6 year old blurted it out for him. Hmmmm…she seems too young for pop culture.

You do look awesome with freshly clipped hair. I should take the clippers to it tonight for our trip.

Rob, I was concerned about my hair, too. My roots are looking real dark and I’m out of time to have it done by my hairdresser. I hate the idea of going on a trip with dark roots. I thought I had a can of semi-permanent hair moose in the cabinet. I got all excited yesterday and was going to go to Colorado with auburn hair. I was really disappointed when I realized I just recently threw the can away! ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

» Posted By Jules On November 3, 2005 @ 9:21 am

I wish you could grow your hair like that, hon! That would be so hot! I’ll just imagine it in my mind! ๐Ÿ˜ณ It’s too bad I have to take the clippers to your head each month! I still love running my fingers through your 1/4 inch locks! You’re the only short haired guy for me! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

I agree with Mel! Bowl cut be gone!

I vote for B, although I’m oddly drawn to D… What can I say–I am a product of the 80’s!!!

I’m back, baby!

It always feels good to be home! Well, at least for me, I’m a homebody. Some time away is always refreshing though!

Glad you had a safe, enjoyable trip!
