A brush with certain death

Poor Ebb! There’s nothing worse than a pitiful cat that has been beaten up by some other animal. We had a cat that was mercilessly pecked on the head by a blue jay and we had to take him in.

Glad he made it okay!!

Sarob

I am so happy for you! James and Julie told us the very happy news Sat. and we were ecstatic for you!!! Congratulations! You guys make quite the couple.

Isn’t it so neat how God moves us. Sometimes it’s difficult to leave but then he brings this new and wonderful better plan for us. He truly has a plan for each of our lives and it is not an evil plan but for our good and our enjoyment!!!

Dr. Lund

You look so official and important!! There is just something about a guy in a labcoat!

I love it when Tom wears a labcoat (which isn’t very often). He had to wear one when he was doing clinicals.

Is that your name on the front?

iLanders

Go for it! I think it is good to set our minds to something that is difficult and then see what we are made of. I was with a girl this weekend that has given up icecream for lent. It was gruelling for her, but she is being strong.

We will miss your while you are gone.

thoughts on Brokeback

I wonder if Francis Schaeffer would have gone to see Brokeback??

» Posted By Karen On February 1, 2006 @ 1:13 pm

This is an interesting dialogue. I have thought about this very issue a lot. I have also recently read in Psalms where David stated “I will set no vile thing before my eyes.”

I really thought about this because David was a man of war, witnessing and participating in gory battle. He also was a major lover with several wives – so I don’t think the sexual thing between a man and woman would have been considered vile. So what to him was vile?

Some would consider a war movie a vile thing, some movies with sexual content vile. . .to me, I think Brokeback would be setting something vile before my eyes. So I will not be seeing it. I also don’t have any interest in the story and it would be a huge waste of my time.

That probably made no sense. Oh well. 🙄

Squirrel marauder

Cute pics!! Do you have lots of trees around your place?

One of the things I loved in Co. was the ground squirrels. I was at a camp and they were just everywhere. They would even run in and out of the buildings; it was great.

The elusive new bird

That’s an interesting looking bird. We have woodpeckers that like to bang on our guttering at 6:00 am!! Hope this one doesn’t do that to you. Has it discovered your upscale urinal? 😆

nature preserve updates

😆 funny, Carl. . .you’re right. Rob, you will never look at that the same way again!

there goes the neighborhood

The funny thing is. . . as you have sat and looked at that piece of open ground and read and prayed, I’m sure the churchgoers have looked out there and fasted and prayed and dreamed of more space! Looks like they won! Ha! (Not that you were praying about that piece of land – just enjoying it)

Forgiveness

Nice sermon, James! I be in agreeance. ❗

A wise woman (my mom) always told me growing up that you can either become a better person or a bitter person. I have found that when I hold unforgiveness in my heart toward someone, it festers and I begin to become bitter. I have told myself that I don’t want to end up a bitter old woman.

I have to forgive for MY sake even if they don’t want my forgiveness.

Bloggers unite!

Julie was telling me how you guys got together with Sarah. That’s amazing that technology can bring people together who would have never probably met in their lifetime.

That’s neat you guys live so close together. She sounds like a neat person.

The hair club for men

I’m laughing right now! The picture you put up there of yourself is just AWFUL! You are a good lookin’ guy, but that picture makes you look like Spock. So I am trying to picture those haircuts on that picture of you.

I think B or C, too.

Sounds like you have a fun weekend ahead of you!

I’m outta here!

Rob, there are really great positives to being single. I wish I could just fly the friendly skies by myself without thinking about how the kids would survive, babysitting, etc. etc.!

Lost religion

Ahhhh Lost! Yes, Carl, that is the way Tom and I see it! That is the ONLY show on TV that we make a date to watch. It’s great.

There is so much about faith in it, too. I love it. Wednesday nights are already planned for us.

A man’s sacrifice

Rob, I thought this very moving indeed!! I loved the lines following your quote.

“We are sent to this world to acquire a personality and a character to take with us that can never be taken from us. Those who just eat and sleep, prosper and procreate, are no better than animals if all their lives they are at peace.”

That made me stop and think. I think I agree with him.

I just recently heard Beth Moore say that God is in the business of making our lives a great story. Great stories are never the boring ones full of peace. They are the ones with hairpin curves and near misses. She is right.

Red Rock excursion

Well, I’m still impressed. It looked beautiful!!

Rob, am I understanding right that you went on this hike alone??! That’s pretty amazing. I don’t think I would ever ever have the guts to take off like that in the mountains. 😕

CueCat hack

Wow! Thanks so much for your pics! I am a non-electronics-abled middle-aged mom, trying to figure out how to mod an old usb cuecat to scan grocery coupons. I found lots of sites that told me to lift pin 5, but with 16 little metal doohickeys, i didn’t know how to count them to get number 5. Your photo solved the riddle! YAY!
