Sweet apartment! And you have a fireplace! Woohoo! We can buy you sweaters again!
James, cool quote . . . I had to read it twice–ok three times before I got it!

Wow, I was just having a conversation regarding this topic with a friend last night.
I have nothing profound to say, except that what you wrote really struck a chord.

Wow! Good discussion, everybody!
I agree that swearing should be monitored, and that it isn’t really a good reflection on Christ in certain situations. The problem that I have with some Christians is that they use “I don’t swear, drink, or smoke” as their only distinction from the world. A woman I used to work with made it perfectly clear to everyone around that she was the most modest, the most conservative, and had the most “graceful” speech. The problem was that she was also the most cruel, bitter, and lazy woman that I had ever met. She would proclaim boldly that she was a Christian, but she honestly alienated everyone around her–not with swear words but with cutting comments and judgments. I had people who knew little to nothing about Christianity that would come up to me and say that there was no way she was a Christian the way she acted. What a poor reflection on what Christ is really about!

Don’t you love kids! They are so honest and sincere. They don’t have the filters and walls with which adults tend to be hindered.
So, Mr. Rob, I’m curioius. What was your response? “Is it a sin to swear in your head?”

Rob, the video turned out great! I’m so proud!

By the way, you really need to see I Heart Huckabees. Your entry reminded me of the movie.

I don’t really see the second view as a negative outlook or even a hopeless one; rather both philosophies evoke a different response.
The first sets the individual apart from the masses. Each has unique characteristics with infinite possiblity.
I’m inspired to reach beyond my limits.
The second philosophy connects me with the individuals across the street and around the world.
I’m inspired to reach outside of myself.
Like mosaic artworks, each tile is unique from the other, yet they still comprise the same piece.

Don’t I have a great husband? I have had a rough few days with finals and work, so it was such a treat when I came back from a rather dull meeting to find these flowers along with a note on my desktop at work. Plus, for a person addicted to scrapbooking, it’s handy to have someone around who can take great pictures! 😉 ~I’ll leave the technical details to Jim~

This afternoon, I went to Chipotle with some co-workers. I laughed out loud as I read the following rant on one of their cups, especially considering it was my chipoLte-saying supervisor’s cup.
“Ok, call us sensitive. We love to hear our name come up in conversation, but we wince a little every time we hear it mispronounced. And that happens a lot. Among the many “creative” ways people refer to us are:
Chipoltay (the classic)
Shapoltee (the French variation)
Chipoletti (the Italian variation)
Shipotlay (Bob Blessing version)
Chipoddle (way North American)
Chipotulay (the extra syllable)
Our founder, Steve Ells, is to blame. He picked an unusual word for an uncommon chile to be our symbol and our name. After all, he thought he’d open only one restaurant. Steve never thought it would become our happy mission to teach the whole country how to prounounce it.
But really, it’s pretty easy:
Chi-POAT-lay
Three little syllables. One big taste. But bottom line? We’re happy to see you however you say it.”
Funny, huh?!

I’m feelin’ you on this one, Rob! We have a little Mexican joint here in Minnesota called Chipotle, phonetically pronounced ch&-‘pOt-lA; however, some of my fellow Minnesotans tend to pronounce it ch&-‘pOl-tA or even worse ch&-‘pOl-tAs. The “L” does not come before the “T” and it most certainly does not have an “S” at the end! Nails on a chalk board!

That article was interesting . . .
The author mentioned that Warren had a “messianic tone,” and I agree with that. I feel like he is most certainly trying to play god.

You already know my opinion about these “services,” eHarmony included, so I will refrain from ranting on that now. However, the fact that you did not “neatly fit into any of [their] categories” proves what a great catch you are. If you did, what a bore!

Rob, I swear I thought Ray Park was you. I looked at that first picture and thought wow, Rob’s got a new do! Funny, huh!

Boys are such dorks when it comes to hot chicks. Sorry, guys, but it’s true!
The pictures are fun, Rob! Was that you in the first picture? If so, did you change shirts half way through?

Finally . . . you took my advice and watched this movie! I knew you would love it. Listen to your sister, dangit!

Julie, we own Signs too!! I screamed, laughed and cried when watching it in the theaters–Jim will vouch for me! (Man, I really do use exclamation points excessively!)

I loved that article! It put articulate words to why I love M. Night’s movies. I get so frustrated with people who walk away from his films and say things like “that wasn’t scary at all” or “Yeah, he’s a one hit wonder alright.” Aargh! They obviously don’t recognize the symbolism, themes, and questions present in all of his movies. Each time I watch one of his films, I look forward to the discussions that will follow.
